I was working on a proposal for a contract we are trying to secure and found myself factoring in something I had never really done before - the weather!

We have a project that will require securing quite a bit of materials from a vendor down near the SE portion of the States. With all the crazy weather conditions and disasters in the last year I can't help but prepare and try to account for what may happen this Summer. I have a weird feeling we're in for quite a year with these Hurricanes.

Has anyone else started thinking ahead and factoring in alternative plans or work arounds for, of all things, weather conditions?

Interesting idea - actually, one of my clients is a holiday company, and they suffered a big drop in business following the tsunami in Asia, simply because not only were a lot of people worried about travelling, but also were givng some of their savings to the relief efforts. As a result, their January/February bookings (which were usually very healthy) suffered, which they hadn't planned on, and they had to let one of their peopel go (they were a 3-person firm. Now 2).

Not exactly what you're talking about, but it just goes to show that some things just cannot be planned for!
